Ignorance is bliss?

I’m as guilty as anyone, but how lame is it to criticise from an armchair? One of the best rewards of doing this project, is that we’ve done it! No matter the ideas, the planning, the hiccups, or the mistakes, we’ve actually just done it, and the nest (and matchbox) really really work for us. We’re in and it’s a win…

For the most part anyway. We moved in on the 4th October, a stress-free move thanks to built-in furniture, a van and helpful friends. So what’s it like living in 18 square meters? Cramped? Noisy? Claustrophobic? Here’s a quick run-down of my thoughts / feelings so far… Pros: things are really functional, we’re stoked with the design. Not in yet, but here’s the latest…

The houses were moved onto site 3.5 weeks ago, and I don’t think we’ve stopped since. Who knew there was so much painting in a tiny home?? polyurethene, sanding, priming, varnishing, painting, masking… it’s looking good but boy are we glad it’s only 18sq m. Note to future builders: with plywood interior lining, built-in furniture, and a small space – EVERY finishing touch is on show. Moving day (not to be confused with move-IN day)

Congratulations building trade, you have produced your first tears. 2/3 building work done, 8 weeks down. We were supposed to write last week that we were sitting in our new house, on site… then it didn’t happen. So then I thought I would write last Thurs, when it was supposed to happen… and now I’m writing about tears.
